STEM/EELS and orbital populaitons of orbitally polarized nickelates published

May 19, 2017

In collaboration with Prof. Robert’s Klie group at UIC and Charles Ahn’s group at Yale, the real-space electronic structure of titante/nickelate interfaces has been examined directly showing the strong predicted charge transfer from Ti to Ni.  In addition, the theoretical work clarifies the different ways of counting electrons on the Ti and Ni and why they give different results and which one is appropriate for which type of physical measurement.  DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.95.205131
