A joint work by experiment and theory on the structure of 2D borophone (monolayer of boron) on Cu (111). This represents significant progress for the borophone field since the experiments are able to create 2D flakes on the micron scale (as opposed to on the nm scale) allowing for broader ranges of experimental characterization. Very high resolution STM combined with electron diffraction and theory describe the structure and electronic configuration of this 2D system.
